Ungrace: Feed the demons
19/10/13 || Ironpants
Wow, here we have some brutal modern music from Ukraine that doesn’t suck goat-balls completely (just slightly licking them with a tender touch). I admit that it was much better than I thought, and I am an prejudiced son of a gun. These fuckers play some blend of brutal death metal mixed with death core (including some of those notorious breakdowns) and futuristic metal from the Fear Factory league. And that sentence really explains the album with both the pros and the cons.
I gotta hand it to them, it’s a fresh and modern production and the music strikes pretty hard and unexpected. But when you listen a couple of times a few question marks appear. The lyrics (which I don’t have in print) appear to be of the kind “Back the fuck down” , “Die motherfucker die” and “Ungrace will kill you”. And in track “Glamour & pathos”, what the hell is he singing? “So move those phallus, come eat my phallus, gonna lick the phallus, take a bite of my cunt”? And the clean singing has got to go, it’s not good enough, stick to the various growling boys.
Well, this wasn’t as bad as I thought, but nothing to write home to momma about. My mom by the way, called and asked why I don’t write home anymore? Well, mom, there’s not so many good bands that emerge these days, but in a couple of years maybe I’ll write you a letter about this Ukrainian band I heard, when they release a better album worth telling you about.
5/10: Stumbles around a bit, but may turn out well if they check their shit.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
